Blog:22 Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

Im proud of how much the class enjoyed doing my activity. They gave a lot of positive feedback. Im glad because creating the note cards took me hours to complete!

(2) Questions to Consider
a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?

 I would give myself a P.

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?
I would give myself an AP.

3) What worked for you in your senior project?

Working with two different mentors. Having two experts to ask questions to when i was confused about something really helped my experience.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?

I would start making my activity earlier. I stayed up late cutting and gluing the pictures and prices on the note cards.

(5) Finding Value
How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

My senior project helped me pick the career i want to study for in college. Luckily, cal poly offers hospitality management. I've also have the chance to join both my mentors in their business.

May Blog

Unfortunatley, this is the only picture i got out of all the prom decorations. Everyone seemed happy with how everything came out and im glad i was able to be a part of making prom happen. All the stress and hours put into prom planning was well worth it  in the end. I was a major part of decorations and on prom day i was one of the few people who had to go decorate the venue. We did face many diffuculties the day of though, the biggest one was that the venue hadnt informed us about an event they were having that morning, because of that event we were unable to do the big decoration set us so early in the day.

Blog 21: Mentorship

Interpretive:
One of the most important things ive learned from completing my mentorship hours was working with all sorts of clients even if they're difficult. I also had first hand experience working as an on site event planner.
Applied: What ive done through my mentorship has helped me find answers that i feel are most helpful. During the time i spent on events i was able to see what was most important and figure out what things would bring in profit. For example during the events ive worked on we provided great costumer service to our clients and alot of their family asked for business cards.

Blog 20: Exit interview

1. What is most important in managing a profitable event planning business? My best answer is "Satisfying a customer while building long lasting relationships."

2. I thought about how my other answers help answer my EQ and with the help of my mentors they we agreed that when you provide excellent customer service to your clients they will continue to return to you.

3. The problem i faced was writing out my answer was that i knew it would be difficult to find an activity that would teach the class how to do it themselves. Also, i had trouble with finding the wording that would make my answer look best.

4. One of the most significant sources were my mentors Rosy and Claudia with their help i was able to get the real inside into all my answers and experience some of the benefits and hardships that come with the business. The other was an article i read. It is titled The life of an event planner: dealing with difficult clients by Kate Minshall.

Blog 19: Independent Component 2

a. I, Leslie Nunez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
b. Senior year helped me complete my independent component.
c.
d.  Interpretive:
I'm not done with my independent component two but so far i've been a big part of planning prom and i will continue to participate in the committees. Planning prom helped me with my senior topic because i've had to deal with budgeting, and planning a themed event.
Applied:
This experience has helped me answer my essential question because i've had to learn how to budget and negotiate on my own.
These are the type of vases we want for the candy table.
We want lanterns like these as center pieces but they might be out of our budget!
This is the fabric we got to make runners on the tables, but we got it in black and gold

April Post

On April 4th, I went on my first all day wedding with my mentor Claudia, the owner of Enchanted Crown Events. I had the opportunity to help Claudia and her assistant to set up the wedding. Everything pictured below was done by us three. It was a great experience that taught me how an event planner works and what they have to do for the client during the event. We did run into some trouble where a glass door fell and shattered because of how windy it was. This was a problem because that glass door has the seating arrangement the bride had set up. Luckily, the bride was understanding and was happy Claudia had everything on paper; I just had to direct everyone to their tables. I look forward to joining Claudia at another event in May!

March Post

This month I've been going to my mentorship a lot since prom is coming up and a lot of girls go in looking for opinions from girls around their age. So Rosy Nunez likes having me there just in case. My mom wanted other ways to advertise her business so we decided we'd make an Instagram for the store and it has really pulled in new clients.
